Early Pregnancy Class
Discussion covers nutrition, exercise, physical changes, morning sickness, medications safe to take and what to expect on prenatal visits to your doctor.

Preparing for Baby
The class covers ideas for baby-proofing your home with tips to avoid the top five dangers to children. See and discuss basic safety devices, including "make-it-yourself" ideas and an overview of car seats.

Childbirth Preparation
The nine-hour series taught by a labor-delivery room nurse includes instruction in relaxation, breathing techniques, signs and stages of labor. Instructor also covers epidurals and C-sections. Class includes a tour of El Camino Hospital labor-delivery unit.

Thursday or Friday series, 6 - 9 p.m.
Two-day class, Thursday, 6 - 9 p.m. + Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 pm.

Breastfeeding Your Newborn
Learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, positions for feeding, signs that feeding is going well, what to do if it’s not and return-to-work strategies.

Infant Emergencies and CPR
Learn what to do for basic infant emergencies and participate in hands-on practice for Infant CPR. No certification given. This class is taught by a paramedic.

Family First Aid
This class will teach you everyday first aid skills including control of bleeding, burns, bites and stings, sprains and strains, exposures to heat and cold. Allergic reactions, asthma, diabetic emergencies, heart attack, poisoning, seizures and strokes are also covered. This is a MEDIC First Aid lecture and demonstration format. CPR is not included.

Infant and Child CPR
Learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children up to 8 years old. Hands-on class using both infant and child manikins. No certification given. This class is taught by a paramedic.

Mom and Baby New Beginnings
This six-week series is a great way for mom and baby (babies 2 to 10 weeks old at start of series) to meet with other moms in a partially structured group setting to learn about common issues and to share feelings and experiences. Expert-led weekly topics. Facilitator: Maria Ord, RN, BSN

Welcome to Pediatrics
This class is taught by one of our pediatricians and covers what happens in the hospital and what to expect during the first couple of weeks at home. You’ll learn what’s normal, what’s not and what to do when you have questions. You’ll be introduced (via photographs) to our Pediatrics Department.

Interactive class based on the work of Ellyn Satter, MS, RD, family therapist and feeding specialist. This class covers the "how to’s" of developing a healthy feeding relationship to promote lifelong healthy eating behaviors. Please do not bring children to class.

Sibling Preparation
This class involves siblings in preparing for the newborn. Through activity, story books and video, children learn about the appearance, abilities and needs of the newborn baby along with some basic safety information.
TIME:
Saturdays, 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. (ages 3 - 5)
Saturdays, 11 - 12:30 p.m. (ages 6 and up)
FEE: $25 first child, $10 additional child/same family
