Digital Revolution of Mammography

Camino Medical Group is leading the way in the digital revolution in health care by replacing traditional film-based X-rays with new digital imaging systems. One compelling example of how digital diagnostic imagery is enhancing patient care is mammography and breast care.

CMG provides direct digital mammography with same-day reports. In years past, female patients would have to wait for several days to learn the results of their mammogram. Digital technology has eliminated what was often an unnerving waiting period for patients.

"The digital machines are faster, produce better-quality images, and are immediately available to doctors," explains Jana Hesemans, manager of CMG's radiology and imaging services.

CMG's Breast Care Center, accredited by the American College of Radiology, provides screening and problem-solving mammography. All patients' tests are interpreted by experienced, Board-certified radiologists.

The new digital images enhance radiologists' ability to view more. Patients with breast implants or dense breasts will distinctly benefit because this new equipment can gather images unimpeded by these factors. Additionally, CMG's breast care center has sophisticated new biopsy technologies and procedures which minimize patient discomfort.

"CMG will continue to be at the forefront of technological advancements in health care that benefit our patients," says Jana.
