CMG Offers New Parenting Workshops for the Community
It's been said that being a parent is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. There's no doubt that it's one of the most important. To be a good mom or dad, you need as much knowledge, support and information from experts as you can get. For this reason, Camino Medical Group (CMG) has introduced a new series of bimonthly workshops on a broad range of topics geared toward parents. The workshops are free and open to the public. CMG patients are encouraged to attend.
At the workshops, parents will get a chance to interact with various health care experts in the community. Additional time is included for questions and answers.
CMG Pediatrician Manisha Panchal, M.D. suggested the series. "I got the idea from interacting with patients and families and thinking of ways we could meet the needs of the community," she says. "Books, magazines, and Web sites can give lots of information, but parents may still have questions about what principles to follow and how to apply them to their individual situations. I hope these workshops will give them more guidance and answers."
To determine the best topics for the first few workshops, CMG conducted a series of parent surveys. The first session was held on October 25 to prepare parents for increased health risks to children during the fall and winter months. As the presenter, Dr. Panchal talked about "Infections in Children - When to Worry, When Not."
December Parenting Workshop: 'Positive Discipline/Self Esteem'
