Since 1989, the HMR (Health Management Resources) Weight Management Program at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (formerly Camino Medical Group) has helped thousands of people lose weight while learning the skills needed for long-term weight maintenance. The HMR Management Program emphasizes skills and behaviors needed to live a healthier, more active life.

In February 2008, PAMF's HMR program staff won five Gold Standard Awards, presented at the HMR Annual Meeting. "This was a very nice surprise," said Karen Handy, MPH, manager of PAMF's Nutrition Services and the HMR Weight Management Program. "Every year at the annual conference, programs are recognized for their performance. It is a lot of work and an honor to win these awards. We were particularly pleased to receive awards for our very low drop-out rates in both our weight loss and maintenance programs. These particular awards reflect both the success our patients are experiencing with their weight management efforts and the supportive care provided by our dedicated staff."
